Your new place has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you purchase a new house, you’ll find that the old owners used a smart home system. All the devices work, are placed in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary trip, and you can have your monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the transfer easier. If the owners are moving to a condo or smaller home, transferring the home security service might be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security components with you
You might want to take your existing home security components with you to your new place when you move. That’s pretty easy to do, as many alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can remove each alarm or camera yourself or use a professional installer to come and dismantle your devices. Then an expert will hang the same devices -- and any new devices you need -- in your new home. The home security contract will keep the same.
